The 2023 Toyota Highlander boasts a long list of standard features and interested accelerators. However, its limited steering feedback and small third-row contributed to placing it in the bottom third of our medium-sized SUV rankings.
Are you looking for a world-class family hauler? The Toyota Highlander is a great alternative to the three-row Midsize crossover class and a favorite of fans at Mesa, AZ’s Arnhard Toyota.
Highlander has plenty to offer, but in a fiercely competitive mid-size SUV segment with more than two dozen cars, it’s just a mid-pack player.
All trims provide proper handling and a smooth ride, but Highlander’s driving behavior can use caffeine shakes. The interior is nicely furnished, even at the base L, a host standard with modern conveniences, easy-to-use infotainment, and driver-assistance features.
The Lexus and Platinum models make a good impression with the finest leather upholstery, a premium JBL stereo system, and additional technical features. Despite all this, competitors like Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade offer more luxurious and third-class rooms. The Mazda CX-9 offers an excellent interior and good driving mobility, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee L brings off-road capabilities of that brand.

What’s New for 2023 Toyota Highlander Car?
The 2023 Toyota Highlander Standard V-6 has been replaced by a new turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder for 2023. The new engine produces 265 horsepower and 309 pound-feet of torque; Toyota says the combined fuel economy rating of 24 mpg is the same as the outgoing V-6, which makes us wonder why it was switched to a lower cylinder.
A new 12.3-inch infotainment display is available and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster is now limited and comes in platinum trim. These high-end models also get power-folding exterior mirrors while the XLE and XSE trims add a hands-free power-operated rear liftgate.

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
2023 Toyota Highlander to the norms of the warranty coverage segment.
